Your Listening to The Truest

Each episode we ask our guest three questions:

  1. What is the truest thing you know?
  2. How did you come to know it?
  3. Who's next?

We are on an exploration of personal truth guided by each guest. Your host, Jacob Smith, has no idea where this podcast is going to go. But it is going to be authentic, complicated, and surprising. In a word, true.

Latest Episode — Alex Pratt

For Alex, the truest thing he knows is that people are terrible at appreciating what they have.

Alex believes this tendency had to be advantageous at some point in the evolutionary history of humanity, but is terribly misplaced in our modern society.

It's not that we never feel content, but Alex sees the huge push in society to combat this feeling of unease points to our need to constantly work against the gravity of ingratitude.

As the podcast moves forward, I'm less connected to each guest. Alex is a friend of a friend. But his openness and honestly leads to a great conversation.

The music in this podcast was again composed by the indomitable Jon Ross.
